Different Kind of Shoes

Memorata Shoes

"Give a girl a new shoes and she can conquer the world."                                                                                               ~Marilyn Monroe
Part of every girl's dream is to have a closet full of shoes - shoes of different styles, colors and aura. I am not exempted to that as it has always been one of my dreams to acquire beautiful pairs of shoes that I could wear in different occasions. For now, I have a few items in my shoe boxes that I use to pair with my clothes when going out but it's far from being called a collection. Since I can't afford to buy those wonderful pieces I see on TV's and magazines yet, I satisfy myself through dreaming. Quite a daydreamer, aren't I? Nevertheless, my fascination of shoes never ceases.

One pair of shoes that caught my eye was the shoes featured in the new teleserye of ABS-CBN: Ina, Kapatid, Anak starring actresses Maja Salvador and Kim Chui. Margaux (Maja) was the adopted daughter a couple who owns a shoe manufacturing company. Aside from the luxury that this entails, she also gets to design shoes for their collection.  In the show, the first pair of shoes of bearing her design that was unveiled in the market was dubbed as the Memorata Shoes. When I saw those, my eyes literally glimmered because of it's beauty. It's a combination of pink shades and silver with diamond like accents. Here, take a look.

 Memorata High Heels

Memorata Flats

Beautiful, isn't it? It's really catchy because it's very feminine and elegant. Actually, I'm really planning to get that pair of flats for myself as I am not a heel person. As much as possible I wanna go flat. Despite adding poise and elegance to ladies, according to researchers, wearing heels all day can cause detrimental effects to our spine and to our health as a whole  so as much as possible, better keep the heels for special occasions. Besides, flats are very comfy especially when you do a long walk everyday. You don't wanna get more callouses, don't you?

Now back to topic. As you can see, CELINE, a famous shoe brand in the country will be making the shoes and according to what I read, it'll be available this coming November. For sure, many girls who follow the aboveteleserye will get a pair for themselves too. It's a good souvenir, I bet. For you girls like me who plans on acquiring one, let's all visit CELINE stores nationwide when these lovely pairs are out.  Tune in for announcements though their Facebook page.

Short Review: A Strong Pilot Week For ‘Ina, Kapatid, Anak’

Last updated on October 9, 2012] A Short Review: Together with the cast, production staff, and members of the entertainment press, we watched the first week’s run of “Ina, Kapatid, Anak” during its special advance screening in Trinoma on October 4.

It was one hell of emotional roller-coaster ride for me. Basing only on it’s pilot week’s episodes, I could say that it’s one of the best tv series ever created by Abs-cbn.

Trying to bring the issue of ‘surrogacy’ into the people’s consciousness is already a challenge to anybody. A challenge that even our lawmakers have failed to try, with surrogacy an issue that even the mainstream media haven’t bothered talking about yet.

Tackling it on a national television show means a greater challenge. But “Ina, Kapatid, Anak” presents it in a light manner that can be understood by people of all social classes.

A unique mixture of drama and comedy made the first week episodes stand out from the rest of the previous or even from the ongoing TV series. The conflicting characters plus the A+ portrayal of the actors made the tv series above normal quality.

It is engaging enough for the viewers to consider pausing for a while only to be glued in front of their television set for the next 30 to 45 minutes… then discuss about it after. (more of this review in a separate post soon). Follow @elysplanet on Twitter for updates.

    ——————————————————————————-

[Original Entry] Four of the country’s hottest young stars Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador are ready to conquer the prime time this October with “Ina Kapatid Anak.”

We are here at the presscon of this new series. Will be live blogging so keep this link.

Maja plays the role of rich girl, Margaux. Maja described her role as, “Para akong isang maganda at matingkad na sapatos pero ang sapatos na iyon, nasa kahon lang. Hindi ginagamit.”

Kim on the other hand plays the role of Celine who described herself as, “Tsinelas na medyo sira na, na pwedeng dalhin kahit saan.”

“Ina, Kapatid, Anak” is a compelling story about family, love, power, rivalry, and acceptance.

Joining the leads are a powerhouse cast composed of highly-acclaimed seasoned actors Janice de Belen, Cherry Pie Picache and Ariel Rivera; and well-respected veteran stars including Ronaldo Valdez, Pilar Pilapil and Eddie Guiterrez. Directed by Don Cuaresma and Jojo Saguin, the series will definitely capture viewers’ hearts.

It is a rivalry between three generations of actors both in the name of love and wealth.

When asked on overshadowing Kim Chiu for she’s a multi-awarded actress already, Maja said “Abangan n’yo po si Kim dito” because Kim nailed her portrayal of her role. “No one could overshadow Kim,” Maja added.

Maja and Kim are good friends in real life. The two admitted their friendship blossomed in doing the series.

    Enchong and Xian

Enchong and Xian on the other hand said they are blessed to have this project. The two actors shared the four of them have become good friends and make sure that they bond during tapings. “Sabay-sabay kaming kumakain,” says Enchong.

Asked on why he looks like he doesn’t have any problem at all, Enchong said, “Ang problema kasi may expiration date naman eh.” He added he is happy.

The two guys have also become good friends. They’ve been in various projects together. The latest was with movie, “The Reunion” with Kean Cipriano and Enrique Gil.

ina kapatid anak episode 1: october 8, 2012

so it begins (again) and i am back! back to feeling too much, thinking things through. good shows make deconstruction easy. and simply put, this is one good show. in mom’s words. “it’s a good beginning, it holds your attention.”

i suppose writing for a for show that has a morally debatable theme such as surrogacy requires a great deal of sensitivity. to explain this rather complex procedure in a manner fit for mass media consumption is such a delicate process. for someone who has set ideals on this subject, the surrogacy teaser that aired pror to the pilot telecast made me seriously think things through. the show succeeded in the intellectual aspect the show delivered.

now, may we please talk about its heart?

the show’s brilliant cast is at the core of its heart. truth be told, i have never been this excited about an ensemble before.

casting ariel rivera and janice de belen as julio and beatriz, a married couple desoperate for a child was not such a big deal to me until the press conference when it was brought up and i realized that they are actually siblings in law. i had to pause for a moment when i saw them on screen together, but with the mastery of their craft and professionalism, you forget who they are to each other in real life and just focus on the plight of their characters.

it wasn’t until janice made the switch that i came to fully appreciate just how gifted she is as an actress. before that, i only knew her as a talk show host who was once a child star. and then “budoy” happened. and “the healing” followed. it was always gut wrenching to see her in tears, that i usually looked away during her challenging dramatic scenes. hers are tears and emotion that comes from depths unknown. knowing she was part of this cast is a thrill, realizing she was to play quite a gray character, surprised me. it is refreshing to to see her play a character so different from the characters she has played before. her defining moment as beatriz is definitely the sidewalk scene. the mood shift was so heartbreaking to watch it is beautiful. for an opening scene to make me as emotional as i was is such a treat. if that scene is a sign of good things to come then i am sold. i am definitely sticking to this show.

now, ariel rivera, while he is known as a singer, for good reason, i have always been a believer in his acting skill. in 1998, he appeared opposite vilma santos and it was compelling. he then took on different roles on tv, and theater even. i had not seen them all, but whenever i get a chance to see him flex his acting muscles, it’s always a good day.

i find that one drawback to being a great actor is the fact that great acting is to be expected, that there is little to no need to analyze their performance. such is the case for cherry pie picache. she has always been a reliable actress, that she often leaves me speechless. the fact that i hater her with a passion in her antagonistic roles is a testament to her talent. i have always been so aware of this gift, i am only starting to respond to it fairly recently. i come around slower than others, that’s why. for someone to make the most mundane line so magnetic, the way she did when “hindi naman puwede papano naman yung isa?” and make a defining moment out it, is just amazing. another favorite moment is her time with her father.

speaking of paternal figures, ronaldo valdez as the devoted but troubled father is an cting force to be reckoned with. the tension and desperation born out of his pain-laden personal history is difficult to watch. the tension running through his veins is so palpable, this is one of the characters and performances that leave me speechless (and this early on, i can say that it will continue to do so. just great, great acting! now, eddie gutierrez as the menacing, manipulative, calculating and imposing lucas, is a challenge to my viewing pleasure and admitted sensitivity. it is a curious matter to have two characters with with the same trying histories to become such anti-theses of each other.

it is intelligent writing because each of the character’s templates and motivationare clear. the script succeeded in making the audience feel for each of the characters. empathy matters.

the younger cast hasn’t appeared yet, but the thought that the people we love: kim, xian, maja and enchong is part of this powerhouse cast is something to be proud of to the point of tears. what began as viewing out of love and support has now gone beyond fandom affinities. i am now watching a show for its quality, two people i love are part of this show. and its a blessing.

this just proves that while our lives are mirror reflections of each other, it is our choices that define who we are. with transitions and time lapses of this show: generational, sisterly bond to enemies, enemies to lovers. transitions, disparities and ironies. this show sows seeds of bright promise.
